Implants. Invisalign. Cosmetic. Private GP.
Dental SEO in London
A patient looking for an implant consultation behaves nothing like someone with a burst pipe. They research for weeks, read every review twice, compare three practices, then book the one that feels safest. Dental SEO is the work of being that practice.
I have run local search campaigns for dental and private clinics since 2016. The mistake I see most often is a single Treatments page trying to rank for implants, Invisalign, whitening and hygiene at once, then losing every one of them to practices that built a real page per treatment.

Why dental search rewards
Trust Before Price
High-value treatment is a considered purchase, so the searches split into two completely different jobs. Someone typing emergency dentist near me wants a phone number in the next ninety seconds. Someone typing dental implants cost London wants reassurance, finance options and proof you have done it a hundred times before.
One page cannot serve both, and the practices that win locally stop trying. They build for the urgent query and the researched query separately, then let reviews and clinician credibility do the closing.
What that changes in the campaign:
- A page per treatment: implants, Invisalign, veneers, whitening and hygiene each get their own page, with their own pricing, process and aftercare detail.
- Clinician profiles that carry weight: named dentists with GDC numbers, qualifications and case experience. Health topics are held to a higher bar, and anonymous copy fails it.
- Review velocity, not review volume: a steady flow of recent reviews beats a big number that stopped growing two years ago.
- Private and NHS separated: UK patients search these as different things, and mixing them on one page loses both.
- Finance and cost pages: cost is the highest volume modifier in dental search and most practices refuse to answer it, which leaves the ranking to whoever will.
See which treatments your practice is invisible for.

Specialisms
Each of these is a separate search market with its own intent, price sensitivity and competition. They deserve separate pages.
Dental Implants
The highest value and most researched treatment. Needs cost, process, recovery and case evidence in one place.
Invisalign & Clear Aligners
Brand-led search where provider status and before-and-after proof decide the click.
Cosmetic & Veneers
Visual, aspirational and heavily review-driven. Photography does most of the persuading.
Emergency Dentistry
Urgent, mobile and same-day. Click-to-call above the fold, opening hours accurate to the minute.
Hygiene & Check-ups
Low value individually, but the retention engine that funds everything else.
Private GP & Clinics
Same mechanics as dental, applied to consultations, diagnostics and specialist referral.
The dental
Local SEO Playbook
Five stages, in this order. Fixing the profile before the treatment pages exist wastes the traffic it earns.
- 1
Profile & Categories
Primary category set correctly, which for most practices should be Dentist with the specific treatment categories added rather than replaced. Services, attributes and booking links completed.
- 2
Treatment Architecture
One page per treatment, structured around the questions patients actually ask: what it costs, how long it takes, whether it hurts, and who will be doing it.
- 3
Clinician Authority
Named profiles with GDC registration, qualifications and areas of focus, linked from every treatment page that clinician performs.
- 4
Review Engine
Requests triggered at the right moment in the treatment journey, which for dental is after the follow-up appointment rather than immediately after the procedure.
- 5
Measure by Treatment
Tracking that shows which treatments the calls are for, so marketing spend follows the chair time you actually want to fill.
The part most agencies get wrong
Dental Advertising Rules
Dental advertising in the UK is regulated. The General Dental Council sets standards on how practices can promote treatment, and the Advertising Standards Authority has ruled against practices for claims that looked harmless in a marketing brief.
An agency that writes copy for plumbers and then applies the same tone to a dental practice will hand you something that ranks and puts your registration at risk. I write to the guidance, and I will push back on a claim you ask for if it will not survive scrutiny.
- GDC guidance on advertising: claims kept accurate and verifiable, with registration details where they belong.
- No guaranteed outcomes: treatment results described honestly rather than promised, which is also what patients trust more.
- Before-and-after imagery used properly: consented, unedited and representative, not stock photography passed off as your cases.
- Pricing stated clearly: from prices marked as such, so a cost page helps you rather than inviting a complaint.

Questions,
Answered
How much does dental SEO in London cost?
London dental marketing retainers commonly sit between £1,000 and £3,500 a month, and a large share of that covers agency overhead rather than delivery. Working with a consultant removes that layer. I will give you a figure after the audit, because quoting before seeing your treatment pages, your reviews and your competitors would be guesswork.
How long until we see new patient enquiries?
Google Business Profile and review work usually shifts Map Pack position within four to eight weeks, and that is where the emergency and check-up calls come from. Treatment pages for implants and Invisalign take three to six months to mature, because those are competitive and considered searches.
Will you write copy that breaches GDC guidance?
No. If you ask for a claim that will not stand up, I will tell you and offer a version that says the same thing defensibly. Copy that gets you a complaint is not a win, and in my experience honest treatment descriptions convert better than superlatives anyway.
We are a mixed NHS and private practice. Does that complicate things?
It changes the structure rather than complicating it. UK patients search NHS and private dentistry as two different things with different expectations, so they get separate paths through the site. Trying to serve both from one page is one of the most common reasons mixed practices underperform.
Do you work with more than one practice in the same area?
No. One practice per area, so I am never optimising two clinics against each other. It limits availability and it is not negotiable.
Can you help if our Google Business Profile is suspended?
Yes, and clinics get suspended more often than most sectors because of category and practitioner listing rules. Reinstatement is an evidence exercise rather than an appeal form, and it is work I do regularly.
